(Mary) Beth (Clayfield) Parks is a photographer and author of books for adults and children. She also wrote freelance feature articles for the Bangor Daily News, the Ellsworth American and other newspapers and magazines.
Footage and photographs from A Chunk of My Soul, Beth's 43-minute film about nurses in Vietnam, appeared in television programs produced for the WE and History Channels. The first program, Vietnam Nurses with Dana Delany, won one of the two Emmys for which it was nominated in 2007. It also took Grand Prize/World Gold in the 2007 New York Film & Video Competition.
Beth travels extensively. She has visited all seven continents, dozens of countries, and all 50 United States. She enjoys photographing wildlife around the globe.
A native of the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York, Beth pursued her interests through a variety of careers. She has been a registered nurse specializing in the operating room, as well as a wildlife biologist and researcher, public information specialist, Extension agent and educator responsible for a county 4-H volunteer and youth education program, and professor. She received numerous awards for her work.

Beth acquired her diploma in professional nursing from Capital City School of Nursing in Washington, DC. She gained her undergraduate biology degrees from St. Petersburg College (highest honors) and Wake Forest University (Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude). She earned her master's in wildlife management (awarded UMaine Fellowship) and her doctorate in educational administration at the University of Maine .
