(Mary) Beth (Clayfield) Parks served as an Army nurse in the operating rooms at the 7th Surgical Hospital (MASH) and the 12th Evacuation Hospitals (SMBL) at Cu Chi, Vietnam, in 1966-67. The area saw some of the fiercest fighting of the war and was the primary site of the infamous 1968 Tet Offensive.
The hospitals served the various units of the 25th Infantry (Tropic Lightning) Division, headquartered at Cu Chi. The 7th Surg moved to Xuan Loc in April 1967. Beth, who was part of the advance party that built the 12th Evacuation Hospital, remained with the 12th Evac.
